Shabby Chic?

The new challenge has started at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme for the pink team this month is Shabby Chic/Vintage, now to me those two sorta go together!
For my project I made a Memories Box for a dear friend who is in need of some support and a memories box can lift someone when they are down so I am hopeful.
For the box I used a basic wood box from the Works they have a great range of wood blanks at such reasonable prices.
I used Color Arte Opal Rose paint for the base and sponged with some mica powder to get the background effect

I used a mask with some texture paste across the corner, The letters are die cuts that have been loaded with. old gold texture paste the heart, corners and key are from Ellapu's wonderful store where she has some amazing embellishments at such good prices, I filled the heart with liquid glass to give it more height, all the other embellishments are from Craftbox that I subscribe to every month for some fabulous crafty bits!
These are some other view of the sides

The inside of the box was painted with Rose Gold Color Arte paint and the letters die cut to finish

So I hope you will all join us for this great challenge and show us your shabby chic or vintage projects - can't wait to see them!

Something a Little Different!

For my DT piece for Eclectic Ellapu this month I decided to make a mixed media frame. This is something I have been dabbling in for a few months and I have made a couple of larger frames for mirrors - this is my first small scale project on a frame for a 6" square picture

It is made using 3cm jig saw puzzle pieces that I have decorated with lots of different media, some are done with Pebeo effects paints, I used three different ranges - I so love these paints!, I have used some Color Art paint that is gorgeous and gives a different look from every direction and I have used some Mica powders that I directly mixed on an acrylic base. All the little elements I have used are from Craft Box and they send me the most luscious bits in a box each month, a very exciting company that if you haven't found them yet go have  a look at what they do!

So that's my project this month for the Pink team - the theme is anything goes so what are you waiting for come on over and PLAY!

April Progressive Challenge at the Outlawz

The latest Progressive challenge at the Outlawz features a beautiful digi by Sheepskidesigns drawn by the very talented Andrea Norris. Andrea has drawn this digi in two versions depending on which side of the pond you are on. For me it has to be Mum so this is what I made with it.

I used some fabulous card from Hunkydory for my base and layered up the digi on some cerise card, both cut with a hexagon die, the image has been coloured with Copics and I used a couple of butterflies to bring it all together.
So if you are not already playing with us why not come over to the Outlawz and sign up for the challenge - details are on the challenge post of how to get your digi and if you post a project using the digi by month end you will automatically get the next one and we have some beauties lined up for you! Darcy has been so busy getting wonderful images for the challenge you will love them!
I hope to see you all there!

Spring Flowers!

Well there will be soon - we had snow on Tuesday! But all that aside we have a new challenge at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme is Spring Flowers.
For my card I used some lush card from Hunkydory and layered it up with a beautiful image from Conie Fong, who produces some of the sweetest images!

The image is called Spring Flowers quite appropriately! She was coloured with Copics - I am slowly moving over to Copics and they are so different to Promarkers its lke learning to colour again! I used a Spellbinders die for the lacy die cut and some Tattered Lace dies for the leaves and flourishes in the flowers, The flowers are mostly from Wild Orchid Crafts - the aqua fabric flower was from Poundland
We'd love to see your spring flowers over at Eclectic Ellapu (Pink team) and if you're not feeling flowery the Purple team are having some "April Showers"!

Unicorn!

Another quick post for me today and this one is practically all digital! I have used some pages from Dragons Lair Designs for the background and layered up with the beautiful digi from DLD ( I did edit out some of the white in the surround), I added a pleated bow from the same set as the papers and a ribbon to finish it off. I printed it out, coloured the area around the unicorn then layered it up onto some black card and added a little bling, a very quick project that looks great I think!

I will enter this into the Dragons Lair Challenge

Family!

I made this card using the lovely digi I won in the FB celebrations last week for the second anniversary of Aurora Wings, this lovely image is Mermaid and Baby and comes in two formats - both are exquisite! I coloured the image with a mix of Promarkers and Copics and added a Wink of Stella to bring out her scales and the blues in her hair.
The die cut is a decorative screen from the Downton Abbey range by Crafters Companion. I hope you like it!

The shells are printed then shaped with an embossing tool, the sentiment is a wooden embellishment from the Works which I have covered in peacock embossing powder and heat embossed, the background is from Tattered Lace.

Thanks for visiting!

I would like to enter this into the challenge at Aurora Wings

Puppy Day!

So last week we had National Puppy Day! Festive Friday over at the Outlawz likes to celebrate the unusual days!

I made this card using an Aurora Wings stamp that is sooo cute it could only be used for a lovely celebration of cute puppies!

I used the parquet embossing folders from Crafters Companion for the background, the paw print die cuts are from Joanna Sheen's range. The sentiment was stamped with a freebie stamp on a craft mag then embossed with chocolate embossing powder then inked around the edges, finished with a little bow of paw prints. I coloured the image with Copics.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to check out all the fun themes at Festive Friday!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

We have a new challenge started at the Outlawz Colour Challenge and it has just a hint of St Patric's Day about it!

This week's challenge was chosen by me and with an Irishman for my lifetime partner I guess St Patrick's Day has to feature this week!
I was also very lucky to have a wonderful digi sent to me from the very talented Christina Hor

Christina will send the digi out to anyone if they contact her!
I needed to make a card for a very dear friend who has just got the all clear following chemo after surgery for lung cancer and I thought this blessing is just so perfect for her!
So here's what I made

Once I had coloured the image I decided it had a distinct Victorian feel to it so I thought I would continue that  style with my design so I edged the image with some green glitter card and surrounded with lace, I used some olive green to matt my background paper onto then covered that with some die cuts from a Heartfelt Creations die that was perfect!
I do hope you like what I have done with Christina's beautiful digi and don't forget to contact her if you would like it!
I look forward to seeing you over at the Colour Challenge this week!

Teenage Birthday!

My grand daughter will turn 14 on Thursday so I made her a card using the uber lovely digi from All Dressed Up " Love to Dance" as she really does love to dance and does both tap dance and ballet!

I coloured the image with Promarkers the cut her out using a heart die in a double cut, fiddly but worth the end result! I matted onto some cerise mirror card, the same card I used to cut the name and sentiment, I used a cerise glitter card for the age. The paper was a free paper from Create and Craft that came through in an email just in time! I also matted that onto cerise mirror card. I added a cerise satin ribbon and bow that I double tied with some pink organza ribbon. The pearl trim I found in a craft shop in Whitby last summer and I so wish I had bought more as I am at the end of the supply and I have not seen it anywhere else!

The inside has been finished with matching papers and a heat embossed sentiment.

I will enter this into the next challenge at All Dressed Up and the All Dressed Up FB challenge!
